This will help you get the most out of your gas mileage and will help your tires hug the ground beneath them. Don’t forget to check your windshield wipers, brakes, and all lights. - Emergency kit: It’s easy to assume you have everything you need, but take the time to update before heading out on a long trip. Make sure you have water, food, a flashlight with an extra set of batteries, any medications you’re taking or might need, a blanket, gloves, and anything else you might need to keep yourself as comfortable as possible in case you get stuck somewhere. If you’re traveling to colder climates, make sure to include some warm clothes.
- Planning a route: While this may seem obvious, there are many factors to consider. Are you traveling with a pet? Small children? An elder person? Don’t forget to consider your own needs. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to where you are going and that you include all the necessary pit stops.
